On the 8th of July 2024, i had to say a heavy-hearted goodbye to my beloved 14-year-old pug. She had a tumour and a big heart – not just medically, but also in terms of her boundless generosity.

This photo project is my way of coping with the immeasurable loss of my dear companion. It is not just a tribute to her life, but also a therapeutic journey for me. Each photograph documents the profound sense of loss, capturing the emptiness and grief that her absence has left behind.

By revisiting cherished memories, I hope to honour her spirit and find solace in the beauty of our time together, transforming my sorrow into a celebration of the love and happiness she brought into my life.

Time travel into 2019

On 12 June 2019, I was able to pick up Gorda from the animal shelter. It was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. At that time, we didn't know that we would be lucky enough to be travelling together for 5 years. Her state of health was uncertain at the time.

Gorda was newly neutered in 2019 and peed very often. On 4 September 2019, she was already very ill when I took her to the vet clinic. A huge bladder stone had to be removed under anaesthetic.
